(Issued following today’s Parliament debate on the BBC tapes)

“We are disappointed that the Parliament was unable to assist although the general recognition that the tapes should be handed over if the Inquiry is to complete its work is welcome. The Inquiry has uncovered a great deal of information not previously in the public domain but we need to clarify what is on the Gathering Place tapes not only in relation to Mr Dewar and Mr Miralles but also to others since it has been stated the tapes contain “a great deal of important information”.
Not having access makes it more difficult to determine the future timetable for the Inquiry.”
