BBC PANORAMA TRANSCRIPT REACTION

David McLetchie, MSP, has written to Lord Fraser following a Panorama programme and the disclosure that BBC released unpublished information to Lord Hutton. Although Lord Fraser has not yet seen the letter, the following statement was issued in response to Press enquiries.

A spokesman for the Holyrood Inquiry said:
“It is interesting to note that Lord Hutton has had the opportunity to study BBC material prior to broadcast, especially in the light of BBC Scotland’s stance regarding the Gathering Place. Lord Hutton had the chance to decide what impact, if any, the BBC interview with Dr. David Kelly had.
“ All Lord Fraser wanted was a similar opportunity to see if there was anything of significance to the Holyrood Inquiry on the Gathering Place tapes. It may be in the light of this development that BBC Scotland will now review their stance.”
